I have been in the investment and financial engineering field since 1986. I became a stockbroker despite a job offer from Microsoft. This is an example that demonstrates my lack of hunger for wealth and my streak of independence. This move had puzzled many friends and associates including me later.
I had spent the last 20 years working as a futures broker with Refco, a software designer and contract engineer for various investment and trading firms.
In the late 80’s after getting a grubstake together I've purchased a seat at the MidAmerica Futures and later a membership at the Chicago Board of Trade. I traded options on futures and the Dow Jones Stock Index Futures.
I saw that trading is moving more upstairs and becoming more electronic so I abandoned my floor trading and first traded from the CBOT cafeteria then later I moved off the floor altogether. After various computer consulting assignments I found my true love, trading again, this time in New York City. I moved there with the notion of trading futures in New York but events turned me to the stock market.
I have met Robert Kanter President of Electronic Trading Group (ETG), he personally persuaded me to trade stocks instead of futures. Decimalization of course put many listed traders out of business. This was no different with with me. I had to adjust and move on.
After New York I've spent years of Computer software contracting and trading my retirement account.
I have been licensed and registered with the NASD, NFA and CFTC. Now I mentor and consult with traders wanting to become professional or need help in developing strategies and systems.
Trading can be taught successfully. In order to be successful, however, one must fight all sorts of demons.
Never think of the market as your enemy. The biggest enemy you have is yourself. We can all change and fight who we are. It is all customs and habits. There is hope for everyone to be a great trader if one takes responsibility for ones actions and don't live in denial.
Good luck, God Bless and watch your steps
